Hi Again,

Well, it seems that the part store guy and myself have 2 different ideas about what coolant system I have.

He said its a raw water cooled manifold & riser system and I thought it was FRESH WATER COOLED.

How do I tell for sure?
My info I have is:

1977 318 Chrysler

1.It uses ANTI_FREEZE.
2.The hose from outside (intake salt water) goes into the heat Exchanger
3.The manifolds & risers that were suppied by him were Salt water cooled manifolds & risers.

So my question is....Which thermostat do I buy?

A fresh water cooled or salt?

My temperture range is around 180. This would be normal for a FRESH WATER COOLED but way high is its RAW WATER COOLED.

Thanks,
Lou

I have No Idea what your engine/boat looks like, But if I were replacing all of the system.....
I'd plumb it so the manifolds are Freshwater cooled,+ the Risers(Only) were Seawater cooled....

Then I'd use the 180* T-stat.....
The way you're plumbing it,at 180* the manifolds will Rot out Quicker...
