Hi All,

I have a '91 mercruiser engine that was used for salt water. The mechanical properties of the engine seem to be in great shape after tearing everything down. There is some corrosion in the entryways of the cooling channels on the front of the block and on the heads, but not major.

I was wondering how elaborate the cooling channels are in this engine and how you can tell that after being flushed that everything is cleared out. It has been sitting for 5 years and I want to make sure it's thoroughly cleaned.

What's the best way to verify that it's free and clear? The heads are still on the engine.

Re: Cooling Channels in a 4.3L Mercruiser....

Let me clarify, after a bit of reading I have found that I am using the wrong terminology.
Is there any way to check and see if the water jackets in the engine are cleared out after being flushed without removing the heads?
I was going to pull the motor but wanted to try a few things to see if that is necessary.
Any suggestions/thoughts/opinions?
