Cooling line ?

After I pulled the starter of my 97..40hp force to find the water leak. What I thought might have been a thermostat housing under it. Its not. There is small tubing that has dryrot. Looks like it goes into a fitting on the base of the power head and around to top part on the other side of the motor. Is this some sort of cooling line ? Will some regular line work that can withstand a little pressure. All of it need to be replaced.

Re: Cooling line ?

The hose you are talking about is your fuel recovery system. This takes excess fuel from the crankcase and routes it for reburning. There are two check valves at the ends of the hose that must be kept clean. If this system is not working, you lose power and use more fuel.
