There are muffs made for all engines and they are all a little different to accomodate for the different types.Put it on the motor and turn on the water.If the entire intake is covered and the water looks to be forcing its way out from the muff then go ahead and start the motor and keep an eye on the temp.If the water once turned on is coming out of the muffs because they are not sealed to the vent then you probably have the wrong muffs.A barrell is the best way.Charlie
