By "pee hole" are you referring to the hole on the back side of the midsection, or did someone actually hook up a hose under the engine cover and port it out the side?

Most of those engines only had the hole on the back side, which is actually an exhaust relief hole. So to have a substantial amount of air/exhaust coming out of there is normal. It also serves as a rather poor pee hole / telltale.

You can measure the head temp with a temp stick (crayon that melts at a specific temp), an infrared temp sensor, or the hand method. You should be able to hold your hand on it for 5 or more seconds.

Head temp could be 140-160* F
I suspect that you are ok as is, but stop by an auto parts store and get a temp stick to make sure you are not overheating.
