1971 9.8 mercury serial# 3798531<br /><br /> Replaced impellor&sheer pin,reassembled & no water flow.Disassembled and flushed all cooling <br />lines from intake all the way through to tell-tale.made sure intake tube was lined up with impellor housing, still does'nt pump<br /><br /> please help<br /> Thank You

There is a small key way, and a small removable key that holds the impeller in place on the driveshaft. Possible it fell out during re-assembly. This would allow the driveshaft to spin, but not drive the impeller.

Old trick for making keys stay in place when reasembling water pumps,flywheels etc.Add a dab of greese in the key way before positioning the key and it will stay in place. <br /> Good Luck and Good Boating.+
