Cooling problems with Evinrude 4.5 Outboard

Can someone provide some info for me on Evinrude 4.5 outboard motor. It is not drawing any water thru cooling system, and overheats very quickly. I assume that there is a problem with water pump. However, I have limited experience with this type of motor. Where is the impeller or water pump located on this motor. It looks like it is on top of motor neer piston and head. Do I need to remove the six screws from bottom housing and seperate shaft and motor assembly? Any directions on how to disassemble this motor to get to source of problem would be greatly appreciated.

Hello.<br />It would help if you give the model# and/or year.<br />Do not run the engine anymore until you fix the water problem.They can only take that much punishment.<br />Anyway I should not be a pompous donkey rear end.<br />The impeller is in the lower unit and once you figure out the year and model # of your engine which you can find on the top of your transom clamp (the part that hooks your engine to your boat)you can get a manual and get more pointed answers on this board.<br />Good luck.

I have a 15 hp with a similar problem, the pee hole water doesn't have that much preasure.<br />question for paulb123: how do you know that the engine is overheating? what are the syntoms? how do I know when my engine is overheating?<br /><br />should I replace the impeller or the whole waterpupm? I am asuming it's on the lower unit '88" 15hp evinrude<br /><br />allexx
