Hi all;

Mostly to make more room in the engine compartment but also to shed a 'little' weight, I'd like to remove the heat exchange from our Mercruiser 3.7L L4 engine.

We don't ever go on salt water which I 'believe' to the main advantage for these but wanted to check here first for advice.

If it's ok to do, can anyone guide me on how the hoses should be hooked up? I took a look at the current diagram, but don't want to make any mistakes and blow an engine!

thx!

Neither make sense, nothing to gain . There are no configurations for removing the HX and the plumbing for straight raw water

No, no no,no,no!!! You can not. There is no practical way to plumb it, and raw water would rust the cam and tear up the water pump cam seals in no time. There is no practical way to drain the engine for winterization. It is just not going to work. What you DO NEED TO DO is make sure the impeller is in good shape, if it has not been changed in the last 3 years that should be your first priority.
