Would like to try to clean out cooling passages to get rid of any corrosion, etc. I test run using 150 qt. cooler box - would it hurt to put something? in the water that is in the cooler box. Concerned abt L/U paint and impeller blades with whatever would be recommended, Muratic acid or whatever. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Jim

About the only thing that would clog up the passages would be salt build up and normally a good run in fresh water takes care of that. Boaters World sells a salt remover system, I have no idea if it works.
I am running an 89 200 hp Mercury and probably 98% of the hours have been salt water and have never had a problem.
What makes you think there is corrision?

Bought the motor used and have no idea as to history. Having t-stats and poppet valve changed to prevent possible probs. Same with flush for possible corrosion. Thanks for response.

Jim
:)
