I have assembled back my motor and gave it a run in a tub of water. It seems like the problem was a clogged pilot hole. Everything thing seems to be working. The only thing I am worried about is the temperature it takes to open the thermostat. I have watched it cycle and felt the piston casing when it should be at it's hottest and found that I could hold my finger on the case for about 3-5 seconds, is that to hot? and also I have found that the water from the pilot hole to be very warm to hot before the thermostat opens, then when the thermostat opens it cools down, is this normal?

P.S I thank everyone on the board for giving good advice. With me having never tried any engine repairs this has been a great first experience. I can't believe I've done so much without having a repair manual, but I do plan on getting one as soon as possible!
