cooling system merc 500 50hp

hello this is my first post on here. i just got a 67 mercury 500 50hp outboard motor the serial number is 2167927 thunderbolt ignition. when i put it in the water i noticed that there wasn't water coming out of pee hole so i shut it off and took lower unit off and ordered a new water pump.(still waiting for it) the question that i have i think that i can see the hole were the pee tube is supposed to drain out but no tube and can't figure out were it is supposed to go. can anyone tell me ware the tube come off the motor. if it does??? please help i dont want to run motor without knowing that it is ok.

Look at the back of the exhaust plate below the shift slide and there should be a nipple there. That hook up always plugged up and in many case could not be cleaned so we went to the 1/8 pipe plug on the top of the powerhead or some were in the rear water jacket cover, the top one is the best to put a fitting into but either will work much better than the orginal.

i looked and could see two lines that were looped from the top of the motor to the bottom of the motor. the big hose smelled like fuel when i took it off the little one smelled like??? i blew through the tube and could here air sounds like coming out of the exhaust. i have the lower unit off now when i get home from work i will run some wire down it i will post a pic of me pointing at the line any comments helps thanks. pics to big heres a link to them

ok so i looked on the motor for a cooling port i found one on the top of the motor by the flywheel. took it out and fabed up the hose to hook to the water tube on the lower unit(it's still off) water came out is this the right port? will it work or will i be interupting the water flow to something else.

Thats the place to hook up the telltale hose to.
