I have a 2002 90hp Merc two stroke on a party barge. I noticed today that my water pressure wasn't what it normally is. The motor was pumping water and cooling, but the pressure just wasn't up to normal levels. I was floating in the water and started looking at it, and what I found was a little 90 degree fitting at the bottom of the LU (on the front) with a section of tubing attached to it. I've never really noticed it before, but I discovered that the end of it was crimped and a little ragged like it had been shorn or something. So my questions are:
1. Is this the cold water intake for cooling? I've never seen one like this.
2. Is it supposed to hang down in the water, or what?
3. How long is it supposed to be? It's about seven inches now. I don't know if that's normal or if it was somehow cut or something. Did just pick up the boat from the weld shop. Don't know if they might have done something.
Any insight anyone can provide regarding how this is supposed to look and work will be appreciated.
