I took the head off of my 120 2.5L and it has a copper head gasket. It looked burnt between 2 cylinders. Does the replacement have to be copper or can it be some other material?

Re: Copper Head Gasket

head gaskets have come a long way in the last decade. A modern composite gasket with stainless steel fire rings would be available from Fel-Pro or other brands.

Re: Copper Head Gasket

If the original was copper, copper is by far the best replacement!

I have replaced copper with fibre (because it was cheaper and easier to get) and had to go back and replace the fibre with copper later. Would have saved myself a lot of work if I had just waited for the copper gasket.
