Core testing stringers???

Hey guys, I'm rebuilding an old 70's 16ft fibreglass runabout (stuffed floor and transom) and want to make sure the stringers are all good before sealing the floor up. I drilled a hole in each one towards the back of the boat and the wood wasn't wet or rotten, it was nice dry sawdust. The boat has had water sitting in it for months (pooled around the stringers), I guess the fibreglass coating around the stringers makes them waterproof? Is there anything more I should do to make sure they're ok before throwing the transom and floor in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Cheers!

If all the wood is as good as you say, then you can seal up your test holes with either 3M 5200 or make up a small batch of creamy PB and plug em up...

And the fiberglass doesn't really make them waterproof, just very water resistant...if it was done correctly...
