Hello. I was searching the forums for a detailed way to remove, clean and re-install the carbs on a 2 stroke Yamaha outboard. It is a 1999, 115hp, Tlrx model. I know I am having some kind of carb issue, I was told by several sources to clean my carbs because of debris inside the bowl. Does anyone have a link or a sticky that would point me in the correct direction? I'm no slouch with a wrench, just want to know so I do it correctly the 1st time. Thanks...

Re: Corrcect carb cleaning procedure

I wouldn't be concerned with an order, just be sure to go slow and make sure you watch how every piece comes out so that you can put it back in the same way. One thing to pay special attention to is the number of turns on screws. Be sure to always turn the adjustment screws back to a lightly seated position while counting the number of turns you made to get there. I would write this number down and confirm your findings with a shop manual to see if that number is correct for reinstallation. Also, be sure to clean EVERY jet and screw on the carb. One small piece of gunk will mess it up. It's good to have compressed air as well as carb cleaner when doing this. Other than that, just work in the order of how the carb comes apart and be methodical about keeping everything together and going slowly. That way you won't loose parts and you have enough time to see how it came apart, so putting it back together is easier. I'm sure you probably know all of this, but hearing this from other folks always makes me slow down a bit.
Good Luck

I just did this myself for the first time on my F100 (4 carbs). I went to BOATS.NET/PARTS where they have great diagrams to identify parts to buy. I printed it and set it on the bench next to my tools. That made it easy to get everything back in place. It also shows nooks and crannies that you otherwise might overlook.
Good Luck
