Re: Correct fuel octane for 76 evinrude135hp
howdy JB ... I hate to buttt heads with ya, but everything I have read says that 89 octane mid grade is better, and here is why ... the motors are under constant strain, continually going uphill as it were ... and as a former Texaco Petroleum Transfer Engineer

I can tell ya that the base 87 stock is crap, all the additives and propagation retarders ... er, anti knock compounds ... are in the additive

Yes, two cycles are low compression ... but they are stressed, and the way they are cranking out swill these days ... bubbas gas and go, et al .. I think that couple of bucks is worth it for the fuel cleaners and such, should keep that carbon from building up ...

Is it true that Citgo is using alcohol in the fuel these days? I had heard Getty was using methanol too, lol, Corn Squeezins is good for after a day on the water, but not while in the water!!

PS I am a cheapskate, lol, and with the way those Johnsons are going to gobble fuel, Ill be sure to keep an eye on what the big gun Guru's have to say about this ... but in my readings just in the past posts on here, it seems that mid grade is the way to go, I have to go get the One Woman Woo Hoo Parade and the Little Pain in the Buttt thats tagging along with her from the airport, shes been gone a week, so I prolly wont be on til late late LATE tonight, lol, heres hoping anyway!
