I have a 1977 Wellcraft Nova Classic 250. I was wondering what the original prop size was on this boat? I currently have the twin 302 188hp with the MC-1 out-drives. The props are stainless 19p laser II's I have gotten the boat up to 43.5 mph on GPS. It is turning 3900 rpm at this speed. As far as I know these engines are original. I have no idea how many hours are on them. I did a full tune-up, changed the oil, filters and had the out-drives completely checked out and re-sealed.

I've read on here that my WOT should be around 4200 or higher. I'm just curious if these props are too big.

Re: Correct original prop size and pitch?

This question would be better refered to the prop forum, in fact your best first step is to go read the 'sticky' there. It gives you all the information you need to identify correct prop fitment. First consideration would be is the power plant working at its best? Is the boat heavy, water logged, added hardware, fuel tanks, batterys? Yes, you are too low in rpm but make sure everything else is in order before throwing new props at it. Old boats are like women, tricky at times. Exciting at times. Fun at times. Get the point?
