I have a Four Winns 16' with a 140hp Merc I/O. Right now I am running a 14.5 17p 3 blade aluminum prop.

I have 2 other props that are 17p but 14.75, and 15" diameters.

I am looking for the right pitch-diameter for tubing, and skiing.

What RPM range should I be trying to achieve at WOT?

Any suggestions?

Re: Correct prop - 16' 140hp I/O?

[UPDATE]

With the 14.5" 17p prop my RPM's topped at 4100ish, 33MPH (about 3/4 of weight limit). It seems to get on plane after 7 seconds, or so. I am wondering if I am trying to turn to big of a prop, and/or possibly the wrong pitch? Shouldn't this boat be running near the 5k RPM range and able to hit 40mph?

Any suggestions here greatly appreciated.
