I apologize if these topics have been covered. I bought this boat about a year ago and mechanic has been replacing it piece by piece. He is not sure if the prop is the right size because it won't get above 3000 RPM's. It has a Volvo engine. If anyone out there has or has had this model, I would love to get more information. Last owner put an automotive carburetor on it, and I am having problems with trim tabs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want to get this boat in the water.

Welcome to Iboats,

Firstly need to know what's the min-max wot rpm range for that engine, current diam/pitch prop, number of blades. Can go from there maximizing a less pitch prop to pull wot revs up.

Happy Boating

your carver should have the 271C motor/290 DP drive and B3 props are the proper prop for it.

however you have other issues if you cant go above 3000. start with the fuel system and the motor. use the stickies at the tops of the forum for a guide.

Sound advice above....but sounds like you have issues.
When you mention “prop” it reads as in singular and only having one prop ? Is it duo prop ?
do you know if it went well enough before ?
so many things to consider, but more details would be great to start with. Even if it is planing at the 3000rpm you mention would be of help.
My first instinct is that it’s not prop related...and engine related. Especially if it is a DP like AD has suggested. Quite unlikely for a DP drive to have the wrong props on it.
