Correct Prop Selection

Hey Forum,
Little confused on the right prop for my Johnson. I bought a Johnson Sailmaster model j6slcob. It is a long shaft, which I need for my 20" rowboat transom. It is mint, but has the weird pitch "sailboat prop" it came with. I want to put a conventional pitch prop on, and here lies my problem. I read "Leroy's Ramblings", which is a wealth of info on the small OMC outboards. He lists the correct prop for my year 6HP as an OMC model#390237, but says it is NOT the correct number for the long shaft version. Would someone help me sort this out? Correct prop #?

Re: Correct Prop Selection

From my limited research the Sailmaster is the same gear ratio with a different prop. The standard 6 hp prop
I believe is 8 X 7. I don't know if the Sailmaster is a
20" shaft; it may be extra long putting too much motor in the water. The anti vent plate(just above the prop) should be about even with the bottom of the transom. The 6 hp can make speeds about 12-14 mph on a light reasonably fast boat.
