Re: CORRECT PROP ???

Need more info.

Is that the 25 footer? Single engine? Gear ratio of the drive? Approx. HP of the engine(s)? What altitude?

I would suggest that you go to the Merc Prop Calculator,
or similar, and play with it.

If it is a single drive, just as a guess (starting point only) I'd say try a 17" pitch and probably a four blade.

Re: CORRECT PROP ???

We run a 19 and 21 SS at 3500ft on a 21ft wellcraft cuddy with a 5.7 and the 19 will run quite a bit over max.
18P 4-blade does well for hole-shot but we lost about 4.5mph on top-end.
The 19P Apollo Large blade, 3-bld has been an excellent prop for that rig.
Would be nice to know your gear ratio (final drive) to know if we're in the ball-park.

23 Ft. Nova
Single 350 Vortec.
Estimating around 300 H.P.
1:50 Gear Ratio (the same as all V-8 Alpha's)
Altitude ? Don't think that's a factor.
Used mostly on sunny days (if that helps).

Re: CORRECT PROP ???

Altitude is not a factor if you are at sea level, but we don't know that.

Older Alphas may have been 1.5 to 1 but the newer ones certainly are not.

I'd guess Kenny is very close with the 19" Apollo large blade...

Re: CORRECT PROP ???

THANKS.

I checked the Merc. Prop Selector, but just wanted to get some more opinions.

Anyone think a 21 Pitch Mirage Plus (stainless three blade) is too much ?

Re: CORRECT PROP ???

There is really only one way to answer that question, and thats run the prop and find out. If you're at sea-level, it may be fine..
