Correct routing of fuel hoses

I recently planned to replace hoses from fuel tank to fuel/water separator and from separator to motor but my brother came by and took all of the hoses off of everything before I could write down where each one went. Now I can't remember if the hose from the tank went the barb in the center of the separator or the barb on the side. I am thinking that the hose from the tank goes to the center barb. My separator has one barb in the center of the top and one barb off a little to one side on the top. Can anyone tell me the correct routing. I hope this explains my problem well enough. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have an OMC type filter. Look at the area where the fittings are and there should be some arrows indicating flow direction.

Dhadley, Thank you for your answer, and yes it is an omc type filter. I did notice the arrows and diagram on it but trying to decipher it is next to impossible. My problem is that both connections in the diagram look the same, so I am still confused. Hopefully, if nothing else maybe I can find someone that has the same set up and go by that.
