Does anyone know the correct RPM's for a 1986 35HP merc. Also is there anyway to test to see if the Tach is accurate?

Thanks in advance for any help

Re: Correct RPM's

5400-6000 is the WOT rpm range. The only real way to test a tach is to compare it to a known good tach or a shop tach. A dealer should have an accurate tach and might be willing to help you out.

Good luck!

Re: Correct RPM's

5400 - 6000 maybe I do not need to check the tach. Put the boat in the water today, ran it a little bit, It started right up, idle at 900, very smooth, at wide open it pegged the tach at 6000rpm. I thought that might be alittle high, but I guess not.

Thanks for the reply
