Re: Correct spark plugs?
When I sent an email to the mfg for my 1988 100HP 4cyl, I got the following response:

Hello,

The BP8H-N-10 stock number 4838 is the recommended spark plug for your
application. This is the superceded spark plug. Gap should be set at .040.

Jon MacQuarrie
Technical Support Specialist

-----Original Message-----
From:
Sent: Saturday, February 07, 2004 9:00 PM
To: NGK Form
Subject: NGK Form Mail

**** Contact Form & Tech Info Feedback ****

Email From:
VehicleType: Outboard
Make: Mercury
Model: 100
Year: 1988
Engine Type: 4 cyl
Comments: My 100hp 1988 Mercury outboard engine came with NGK BUHW spark
plugs. These plugs cannot be gapped. Yet when I look up the appropriate
spark plug for my engine on your website, it lists BP8H-N-10 as the spark
plug for my engine. This spark plug can be gapped. Which one should I use?
(A service manual I have lists BUHW.)
When: 2/7/2004 9:00:02 PM

END OF REPORT
