While tightening up one of the 4 corners of the impeller housing I noticed one screw would not bite, not only is there no thread but there is no base left to re-establish a thread in - piece 1/3 size of a dime has corroded away. The lower leg is fine- apart from wire mesh screen which had slid up into the lower leg cavity and allowed junk into the impellar housing - the engine a 1993 225 looper runs like a dream. Would like to get 2 more years out of it and dont want to change a lower leg for 1 corroded thread. I am thinking of trying to create a base with marine tex and then drill into it, seat the entire base in 5200 and rely on the 3 good bolts + Patch to create a water tight seal. I am prepared to write lower leg off in 2 years if my fix means impellar cant be changed again.
Anybody tried anything like this before or is there a better approach.

PJB
