Corrosion around engine gaskets

I have a 200 yamaha efi and while getting it ready for the summer I noticed white powder at the bottom of the engine housing. It was coming from around the head gaskets. Is this normal?

Normal for a saltwater engine.

Flush your engine properly with fresh water after use to keep it from getting worse ....

The boat is moored in the ocean so I cant flush it with fresh water.

then watch it corrode away I guess.<br /> keep the powerhead sprayed well with fluid film. but with ocean salt and no flushing look for failures in 6-8 years.

mmmm then you have a problem, geuss you will just have to be prepared to change motors every couple of years ...
