I am looking at an Alumacraft jon boat with a 15hp Johnson on it. On initial inspection, I noticed that the spark plugs were rusted. After a more thorough check, I discovered a white powder on several bolts and nuts. It is only a small amount. I inspected the boat and discovered that the grab handles on the rear of the boat have the same white power around them. There is also some small spots on the nose of the boat. What causes this? Is it a red flag to stay away from this boat and motor or is it just cosmetic damage?
