Hello,

I'm new here and looking for some help.

I'm prepping to restore my dad's old Corsair (made by Scott Atwater for Skelly Oil co.) outboard motor. Theres no identification on it. I have contacted the Scott Guy, who has told me its a 3.6hp, 1948 - 1951. I also got a Firestone manuel from him which is identical to the Corsair's. Heres what i could still use some help with.

A picture (color?) of a Corsair showing what they looked like new, (paint color and decals). Since I don't know exactly the year, any in the 1948-51 years.

A sorce for decals, parts, paint, etc. I've searched the net and have found no Corsair decals (may not exists)

Thank you very much for any help!

Greg,

These guys have a lot of decals not listed. Give them a call http://www.americanoutboard.com/decals/index.html

What do you intend to do to the motor besides paint it? You do realize that it has been severely overheated, right? It will probably blow the head gasket if you run it. Better start looking for one of those.

Re: Corsair Restoration Project-Need More Info.

FR,

Thanks for info. on decals. I have seen there site but as you say, I should contact them for any un listed items...................

As far as the restoration and over heating observation, I'd have to say I'll cross that bridge when i get into it more. I've had the motor for 30 years and the last it ran was around 15 yrs ago. It does have that apperance of over heated, but I don,t remember that happening then, but it was some time ago now! I guess my goal is to make it look like when my dad bought it and make it run like new....................May need a couple parts, gaskets, I'm sure.

Do you sell parts for it?
