Hey guys, I wanna start making a center console for one of my boats, a fairly good sized one at 29 X 34 X 36... no front seat because I have an aluminum one I will install against it. I was thinking costs of lumber / supplys to build the cc out of wood would be about $60.00, but if I were to fiberglass over, what would be the general cost to do so in materials for all the fiberglassing materials. Not counting mixing cups or 4 inch rollers, etc. No super strong fiberglass, just the necessary mat and number of layers.

I ask this because I can get a premade one of the same size for 550 with a livewell, so Its somewhat of a debate for me

I would cover it with a layer of 1.5oz csm then 6oz cloth.....if you want it smoother a finish veil over that... poly resin will be fine...

Here is where I get my supplies www.uscomposites.com

I'd seal each piece with 4 coats of epoxy resin before assembly and skip the itching, then paint.

This is also another good way ^^ The epoxy will be more money but that will be offset by not having glass in the mix... and faster too ;)

the only reason I didn't want to epoxy is because I wanted to hide the wood look of epoxy, I figured epoxy would show grain lines and edges... idk if a fairing compound might do that for me or not.. jig who's resin do you use
