I recently purchased a Harris Kayot 24ft cruiser pontoon and it has a 1999 Honda 50 4-stroke on it. I had it serviced and they said it was in great condition but it idles rough and they told me that the carbs need rebuilt and re-synced and they want to charge $1,000 to do it. Does that cost seem reasonable for a rebuild and sync? I am not mechanical so I'm not looking to do it myself but I don't want to be taken advantage of.

Hell no, sounds like typical Honda extortion, but if you can afford the price go for it...........Don

Three hour job and maybe $180 in parts...So that's double what they should be charging you. Were you lighting your cigar with hundred dollar bills while you where talking to them:)
