Any body have a rough cost of what it has cost them to replace a floor and transom on the starcraft. I'm thinking of taking on a 22' islander.

Thanks.

not too bad in terms of $, but requires a lot of tin removal on a bigun like that. figure 5 or more likely 6 sheets of plywood of whatever flavor you choose plus maybe $80 for epoxy and either rivets or SS screws to stick the floor back down....another $25-30.

barato pretty much nailed it. Plywood, epoxy (or whatever you're choosing to seal with), and fasteners are your primary expenses. Replacing flotation foam and your top floor covering are also possible concerns.

good point EZ....forgot about the cost of foam, which can be durn near as much as the plywood. Big, you don't want to do the floors without replacing the foam....the old stuff absorbs water over time and mice love it and it gets melted from spilled stuff in the boat and and and....

Re: Cost to replace floor and transom

I just replaced the stringers floor and transom in my 19' Glastron this spring and my material cost was over $1000. I ended up using much more epoxy than I expected! Granted, a lot of the cost went into the stringers, but unfortunately if you need a new floor and transom you probably need stringers too. If you go with epoxy check out US Composites they had the best prices I found.
**Just realized you probably have aluminum stringers huh? **

:p

we don't have to replace stringers AND we're more fun than the glasser crowd. what's not to like?

also check Aeromarine for your epoxy...comparable prices or maybe even better than USC

You will also probably want to buy yourself some Gluvit to coat the rivets and seams on the inside of the hull.

...and of course you'll need carpet or vinyl or paint for the floor and SS screws to replace the bad stuff in the transom and the steering cable will probably break when you move it and that will require a new helm and, and, and LOLOL

Jeez guys you never know his wife may be reading this.

With that in mind-Big Blazer, If you buy yourself a 22' Starcraft of any kind and do a marginally proper restoration that doesn't include engine swaps you could probably get by on less than 5K if you do most of the work yourself. A new comparable boat would run anywhere from 25 to 30K easily if not more. Now just cut and paste this and email it to your wife.......:D

and welcome to iBoats friend.

I'd be willing to do it for you for $25,000.00 USD. Oh, and I'll buy the materials, so don't worry about that.

....just throwing that out there.
