My tilt and trim have basically died. Relays are good. The motor housing is SERIOUSLY rusted/rusting (see below). I just don't have any hoists or knowledge to remove the motor. Is it easy?

So, if I take this in to have the TnT done, should I have them service the steering cable too?

How much should I expect to pay? I think the TnT motor is $250

if it is just the tnt motor that is bad i would do it myself.

all you need is a good tree limb ,or a decent swing set lol, if the engine is too heavy for you to lift. just get you a come-along (hand wench or what ever you want to call it) and toss it over the limb and voila you have the eng off. it you limb is too high you can unbolt the one side of the cable and make it twice as long.... just remember while it is disconnected it only has half the weight capacity, so bolt it back together when you get done. your eng should have a hoist eyelet behind the flywheel.

it is easy once you get the eng bolts out to just swing it to the side to help remove the steering cable.

im not familiar with your eng but on mine i had to remove one transom bracket to get the tnt unit off.... but that is easy too.

Had same issue with mine on 120hp, but all i needed to do is "trim" the engine up manually and there was room to remove the trim motor, or even the entire trim unit if i needed to. there should be a manual release valve on one side of the trim unit. release the pressure and lift the motor from the foot. mine, the trim motor rusted, got hole in it, took in water, and rusted on the inside. motor was ~$250.00 as well, found 1 on ebay for $102.00 including shipping. it was a rebuild but has been working great. seller is 14rebuilders and shipping was fast. got it in less then a week.

After engine is swiveled all the way up (should be almost horizontal), lock it in place, drian all the old fluid, install new trim motor, fill with new fluid, and run it up and down several times then bleed air out of resevoir and add more fluid until full.
