1987 v4 115 yamaha 2 stroke. cyl 1 and 3 not firing and 2 and 4 are. swapped wires going into the ignition coils on working to nonworking ingition coils and the 2 nonworking ign coils began working. the ohms on the stator/charge coil were way off. Could a bad stator caouse 2 cyl to not fire?

No. Sounds like your pulser coil or CDM.

Sorry about the cdm thing, meant to say cdi. cdm is a merc thing. Found an older manual, but still not your year. I'll keep looking.Of the two books that i have, one says 592-888 ohms on the low speed charge coil, the other says 740.High speed 55-83 the later book says 69. In my opinion, if the charge coil works for 2&4, it should work for 1&3. Peak voltage is the true test and should be 160-170 low speed and 45 high speed. Might try swapping the pulser coil leads at the cdi. I'll bet that the 1-3 pulser will fire the 2-4 coils and still no spark on 1-3.
