Could anyone please give me an idea about Mercury's "gas tank red", like what Dupli-Color or Plastikote shade would come close? OR some sort of premium spary enamel? Thanks

You may want to try an auto parts store (Napa) I have used High Heat engine enamel on a metal tank. Heat and fuel resistant and you could probably find a color that is close. Some of the shops will even mix color matches in an aresol can for you. With engine paint if you spray the coats on thin you can get a good gloss. Good luck...

The NAPA here that mixes paint wants 9 bucks a can (aerosol) with a 6 can minimum. Don't need that much paint, nor that much expense. I reckon I'll pick up a nice looking shade of red off of the shelf.
