Could Exhaust Leak Cause This?

Been stalling at idle and when trying to shift. Happens more so when cold....after running up the lake and warming up, it seems to idle better, but not great. New plugs had no impact.

Took it to the mechanic who hooked it up to the diagnostic scan tool....everything checked out fine. The mechanic did advise that I had an exhaust leak on both sides of the engine....his theory is that the exhaust gas was filling the engine compartment and essentially not allowing the engine to get the proper amount of air.

Seems to make some sense, but would the exhaust gas build up that fast to cause an immediate problem when cold started at the dock...espicially when the blower had been running for several minutes?

He is fixing the exhaust leaks today, but I'm wondering if he should be looking for some other problem as well?

Appreciate your thoughts.
