Could use some opinions

Hey all,

I'm looking for a newer boat and move out of my 19' bowrider. We have began to entertain more friends/family on our boat and looking for something bigger. I'm considering a Four Winns 245 Sundowner and a 205 Sundowner. The 245 is being sold through Riverside Marine in MD and the 205 through a private seller. I'm a lil skeptical of going through a private seller but it sounds/looks like he maintained the boat well and has service records. The 245 had a new engine put in 2 years ago and has a new trailer...Just looking for opinions on what the better deal is. The asking prices for both are fairly close to NADA values.

Here are the links to check them out.

Thanks!

Re: Could use some opinions

I don't know much about those boats in particular but the one sold by the private seller, although smaller, looks VERY nice and is quite clean. I wouldn't be swayed by the fact that it is being sold by a private seller - many of the boats sold by the marina and other dealerships are done so on consignment - as a result, the private seller is still there anyway and someone is paying for the marina's commission to boot!

I'd make a pro's and con's list for each, total them up and use the statistics to tell you what your gut really wants.....

If your goal is to entertain more why not go with a pontoon or deck boat? Unless your friends and family want to hang out in the cuddy, I would think your current bowrider has a larger capacity to entertain others.
