Re: Could you imagine this??

There is no way in the world that the owner of the boat would not win his case in court!!!

I would guess Angler not only owes this guy a good explanation, but a total $refund$.

Gotta give the owner credit for letting us know. The transom really bothers me.

Sure looks like a bad boat.

But it is a particularly vicious bash on Angler. Too vicious for my taste.

I would like to hear Angler's side of the story before shooting off my mouth about it.

If juries only listened to the prosecution and not the defense everybody would get fried.

sniff sniff.... I smell an attempt at a class action suit..

Personally, after looking at the pictures, definately some issues, but I have a very hard time believing that boat has been used fewer than nine times... The corrosion tells all...

Ditto JB's comments. Hmmm! why didn't we get to see Anglers response?

Some people have no idea how to approach a problem. Most think the first thing to do is trash the company/person then ask for something. WRONG! Mostr people do not respond well to threats and character assaults.

What would you do if someone saw fit to bash you-first and not give the response? I have had this happen to me. Customers that have nothing coming, and know it, will ask for after warranty help by saying: "I'll never buy another one of these, but I want you to fix it for free". IMO, they just got nothing. Duh!

Too bad, slander laws are no longer enforced.

Sure, this looks like a bad boat, however, again, we do not know what happened. One side only.

I agree with snapperbait... i dont think the boat was only used nine times. way too much corrosion around the motor mounts and such. I would also like to hear the other side of the story. there are definitely issues with the boat that need to be seen to.

looks like the boat is much older than advertised. Maybe even sunk in salt water and refloated. Bad shape but some people expect perfection with zero maintenence and care.I dont think the company in question would be in business this day and age with that kind of quality.

Re: Could you imagine this??

Is that a brand new boat? It sure doesn't look to be. That's an awful lot of damage for a new boat only used 9 times. Angler's side of the story would be interesting to hear. Something here just doesn't sound right.
Stalker

Re: Could you imagine this??

It doesn't matter how old the boat is, or how many times it was used. It has a LIFETIME warranty, and claims of being a HIGH QUALITY product. High quality products don't do this. No matter the type of use. And lifetime warranties don't allow owners to fester this far.

It is obvious that the owner has attempted to resolve the situation (even sent Angler pictures and contacted management), and Angler has left him high and dry...evident by his comment here:

"Anglers Management has seen all the photos
and pretend they care, but they have made numerous excuses and lies about
picking the boat up and fixing it."

As far as not hearing the other side, or hearing from Angler?...If Angler wanted to take responsibilty for the boat, they would've. And this guy wouldn't have needed to go through the trouble of putting that stuff on the web. Angler knows they don't have an excuse for this type of workmanship.

Many large, wealthy companies simply don't step up to the plate for the average Joe consumer. They ignore these issues, in hopes that they go away. They sold the boat. And that is all some companies care about. The mere fact this problem is on the net is evidence enough that the problem was not taken care of.

I have a business. If there is a problem I take care of it ASAP...whether it is my fault or not. It works out better in the long run that way.

The owner indicates many of the problems happend right from the start. If they weren't taken care of by Angler, then they would get worse. And obviously the owner would lose interest in taking care of the boat. It would be no surprise if the owner let the boat sit (in or out of water) while waiting for Angler to fess up.

The only corrosion I see is on the outboard's zinc plate and fasteners. If the boat was used less than ten times, and allowed to sit either in or out of water, this corrosion would be normal. Rust on the cleats is a sign of poor quality cleats and hardware used. BTW, if you look at the tag on the outboard, the Yamaha was manufactured in Feb. of 2003. So the boat isn't that old. It could only be used so much in a year. Even if it was 10 years old, it shouldn't do that.

IMO, Angler should be ashamed of letting it fester this far. And they should certainly be ashamed of the quality of their product. $120,000 is a lot of money.

You guys who are trying to pin negligence on the owner need your heads examined. Kudos to the guy that owns this boat for trying to get what he deserves. I wish him the best of luck.

I will not be buying an Angler, that's for sure.

Sure... How much do you want to bet the limitations on the warranty specificly disclaim it's application to commercially used vessels? The web-site has lots about Angler boats, but not much about the person who wrote the site. That sort of anonymity makes me suspicious.

Re: Could you imagine this??

What makes you assume this boat was "commercially used"? The owner specifically commented that it was not, and he said it wasn't even used in tournaments. I don't understand people's attempts here to make this look like the owner's fault?

And why would this guy want to include his personal information on the internet...so ten million people could call him a lier? So he could get sued? Smarten up. This guy is obviously upset with how Angler has treated him, and he obviously went through great effort to make that clear to future suckers.

Personal information, or how the boat was used, is irrelevant. The pictures speak a thousand words.

I've tried to contact Angler twice about this. Once yesterday and once today. No reply. Now their web site contact doesn't even work. IMO, that is "suspicious anonymity". Come on.

From Angler....

"This gelcoat provides a finish that will be free from the stress cracks that can appear as a fiberglass boat ages."

"Valspar's High Flex Plus gel coats virtually eliminates gel coat stress cracking. Your Angler will still look new over time."

"The strength of a transom over time is the measure of a well built boat."

Anyone can easily tell that this boat has a gel coat and stress cracking problem....Problems that are supposidly claimed not to happen on this boat. Did I say this boat has a gel coat problem?!

The silicone applied around the pump fittings is indicative of the entire boat's quality. It appears the hole was formed to be bigger than the through-hull fitting, so it was filled with silicone.

The wiring corrosion is a safety hazard. Most likely a result of using non-marine grade wire, fittings, solder, or connectors. This is how boats catch fire. I'd be upset too.

You can easily tell that the hardware used on the cleats was of inferior quality. It appears some screw holes were not pre-drilled, which caused cracking.

I won't go on...but I fail to see how the owner could do all that. I fail to see how he would have any confidence taking his family out to sea.

Again, this boat appears to be junk. Angler should've made it right. I would not buy one for $120,000.

I'd like to look at this from a different angle. I went to the site, saw the pictures and the presentation made by bw23.

Does he have any exposure to a lawsuit from Angler?
