Is there such a thing as a marine distributor for sbc? Kinda new to the I/O game and had heard about marine alternators and starters.

Where do the wires for the tilt/trim sensors pass through? Some of mine are broken and I'd like to replace them while I am doing the bellows. I just don't see anything obvious with the outdrive on. This is on an Alpha 1.

Yes distributor's are marine rated for a boat, along with the Carberator.... Your wires pass thru gimble housing and into the transom. You will see them when you pull the drive off to replace the bellows.

What checkmate said^^ When doing the bellows is the best time to do the sender's, as they are hard to get to with the bellow's in place.

I just bought a Delco Voyager electronic ignition for a 4.3LX V6, near same price for the V8 version. It was nearly drop in with minor wiring change needed. Comes with everything under $300. Beats points until the day you have to figure out why no fire out on the lake :^)

Currently has the large cap HEI, just so I can be sure it runs after sinking. I will switch back to the MSD that was on it when I bought the boat, and hope it is the marine version and still works.

Marine rated carburetor? I hope Edelbrock makes one, because that's what's on it.

Edelbrock do 2 marine carbs. The 1409 is a 600cfm, the 1410 is a 750cfm. If it don't have either of those numbers, it ain't marine.

My Carb has a sticker on the back that says it meet all coast guard requirements. My MSD unit I don't think is marine rated. It's the 6AL 6420

What's the danger of using a non marine rated system?
Well, you become a Darwin Award Candidate
You become a winner if you die from the gas explosion.

Since the award is for removing yourself from the gene pool they should make the award contingent on no surviving offspring. The rules already require that you don't take anyone else with you 'who might contribute positively to the gene pool'.
