Couple Questions From a New Guy

Hi everyone, new guy around here. Great site, with a TON of information.

I'm new to boating and have just recently purchased a 2006 Four Winns 190. I've been out a couple of times and I have found its difficult at times to see in front of the bow due to the seat height at the helm. I've been looking around this site and others and was curious if anyone has experience installing an after market pedestal to mount the OEM seat to. One that would provide adjustable height to increase visibility would be great. Unfortunately my boat doesnt come with the folding bolsters built in. To buy a seat with this option looks to be in the $350 dollar range and I cant afford that extra cost at the moment. An adjustable pedestal (if it would work) would only run about $100.

On a different subject. Can I use regular Marine grade grease to grease the propeller splines or should I use "Spline Grease" as recommended in the manual?

Thanks!

If you have the back to back lounge seats, i just sit on top of the backs. Its a great height to see all around the boat. several others do the same as well. As for the grease, I would just use marine but thats just me.

I have lounge seats and I just spin them around an drive one a knee. I always sit up high with the wind and the bugs in my teeth.
