remove the 2 screws that protrude through the motor housing (forward side, inside the bilge). The screws that hold the motor together also hold it in place on the intermediate housing.

But you should troubleshoot the entire system before removing the motor. There are relays, and wires that can fail.
There are many mechanical issues like neglected grease fittings on the drive pivot bearings that can also cause it to quit.

Re: couple questions

yes i had a mechanic friend test all the wires and the 2 relays, and they were all good.
so it boils down to the motor.
thats also what the guy that i bought the boat from said the problem was too.

so i cannot put a newer outdrive on my boat?

Ayuh,.... Sure you can....

1st,...Remove Everything that's there now,.... Drive,+ Motor....

2nd,... Glass in the hole in the hull,...

3rd,... Install the Motor,+ Drive of your Choice...

still could be a mechanical issue - remove the quadrant and see how the drive pivots
that motor is an awful thing to get at- be 100% sure b4 pulling it off.
Your Seloc manual shows how to remove the motor.

not easily, but enough money time and skill makes anything possible.
what is the goal of this?
appearance?

Re: couple questions

thank you for the help.

my main goal in it was i just didnt want an old obsolete outdrive.
so i was just wondering if i could just bolt a newer one on, but my question on that got answered.

pretty much i went through last summer buying and selling different used boats trying to find one i liked, and at the end of the summer i ended up with this one (which i really like) 5 boats later.
this summer i want to be able to go out and have fun on my boat instead of spending most of my time working on it or whatever, so i am trying to get everything i need and have it all done by the time i am ready to hit the water.

the outdrive just looks old and i didnt really want to have constent problems with it thats why i was wondering if i could replace it with a newer one.

but i guess i will just go through this one and make sure everything is good and maybe clean it up a little and paint it

thanks again for the help
