This weekend I tried to get the old motor started with no luck. So I did a couple things to see what was going on and ran into another issue that may be a little more serious.

Motor: 1970 115hp Johnosn. 115esl70D

First I don't get any spark at any cylinder, I'm going to pulling off the flywheel this week to see if I can see any tell tell signs.

But my main concern is this. I checked the lower unit oil and it was brand new. Put the muffs on and was trying to start the motor. I could not get it to start made sure that fuel was getting to the carbs (it was). Then after 30 mins of repeatedly trying to start the motor I saw this at the prop. What should I check or what needs to be repaired when seeing this?

What outboard are we talking about here? Model number?
May be a dumb question but, could the engine not starting be because the emergency kill lanyard is pulled?

Are you thinking this is lower unit oil? I only ask because you said it was brand new and that oil is very dark. Was there oil on the end of the prop as well?

Sorry forgot about that will add it to the original post as well but it is a 1970 115hp model # 115esl70D

I am not familiar with an emergency kill on this particular box. And of course I do not have any pictures of the box.

I don't think that it is lower unit oil, but not sure where else it would come from. This is the first outboard I have worked on all of my mechanical skills are from cars. No, the oil is not coming out the end of the prop. It appears to be coming from in between the prop and the lower unit and that is all.

If any other pics are needed let me know I will take them tonight.

And the model and year have been added to original post.

And I am not so much worried about the not starting, as much as the liquid on the prop. Ill figure out the no spark issue.

Well brother, pull the prop and see if you can trace where it's coming from.
Is this a Hydro-shift motor?

I this is an electric shift model. I have 3 buttons to push. Forward, neutral, and reverse. I hope that helps, not sure what hydro shift means googling that now!

I meant electric shift. Sorry brother.
Pull the prop. Not very familiar with these motors, but I think your exhaust exits through the prop and this may be un-burnt two stroke oil from the powerhead.
I may be wrong but I think if you solve your no spark issue this issue will clear itself up. Does it smell like gas?

Well after some research I have found that Hydro shift mean electric shift, however there are 2 versions of this. One uses springs and one uses an oil pump. I have no idea which one I have or even how to tell.

If I had to guess though I would imagine I have the one with an oil pump and would bet that a seal of some sort has gone bad. If that was the case though wouldnt it use the oil in the L/U to help with shiffting.
