Coupler seal?

Well, thanks to Don S, we were able to get our boat out for a couple of days but as usual we returned with a couple new things to fix. The boat is a '91 Sea Sport Pilot with a Volvo 740A engine and 290 DP outdrive. My question pertains to the connecting components. We needed to replace the seal at the top of the steering fork and to do that, the drive had to be removed. The drive is off and today a friend noticed that the spring for the rearmost seal was lying in the u-joint bellow. Can this seal be replaced from the rear?
