coupler - Sierra 18-2171 same replacement from 120 to 260??

This is listed as the replacement for both the 120hp thru 260 - I have a coupler from a 140 and a worn 260 coupler (pointy splines) - the 260 seems alot beefier - how is one size fits all? Will the 140 one hold up to the power from 260?

You have to start talking years. Not all couplers are the same. It varies by years...

All crank mounted .. 120 were always crank, the 260 also. I cross referenced the numbers from mercury's parts catalogue and they are all listed, but the 120 looks smaller.. curious if the sierra is bigger? Ie will the 120 coupler hold the 260s power?
