Time for a new boat cover. Triton 1653SS 2006 model.
What brand did you buy and like?
Cabela's has been suggested by one friend.
Thanks....

Re: COVER for a 16'.....

As usual, I am going to not recommend the iboats Aquashield which is made by Carver.
Unless you like water inside your boat.

I got mine at Menards for under a 100.
They say you can trailer them, but I wouldn't. That is why I had to buy a second one. But they keep the water out and fit pretty good.

Re: COVER for a 16'.....

I need to add: my boat cover is only for the boat as it sits in the driveway {static}.

Protection from: SUN LIGHT, RAIN, SNOW, CATS [spraying to mark territory!]. Needs to be easy to remove and install. I think a SEPERATE motor cover would be easier than a cover that stretches back from the boat to also cover motor as mine does now. Seems like 'seperate' would be easier[?].

Re: COVER for a 16'.....

I have a one from Menards. I guess you get what you pay for. It's made well. Heavy material, good seams and has a built in motor cover. The only downside to the motor cover is, I find water wants to pool on the rear platform area. I think it would run off easier if the motor cover was separate. I wouldn't say a separate one is easier to put on.. I also get water pooling between the seats which has stretched the cover. I read in another thread where someone used a garbage can to prevent pooling. Sounded like a good idea. The cover has also mildewed.

A custom cover made by a canvas shop would be your best bet.. I had a custom one from Crestliner that snapped into place. It eventually rotted. May have to suck it up and buy a replacement. Even custom ones only last so long .....

I got one from iBoats... sharkskin plus. I haven't had it long so I can't speak to longevity but it so far appears decent and should last several years. It fits a lot better than the old one that came with my boat so so far I'm happy.

My name is Carrie and I am with Carver Industries. We previously responded to your prior concerns regarding your boat cover. All of the covers we manufacture have a water repellent finish. Only "coated" fabrics are waterproof. We use the water repellent finish so that the cover remains "breathable" to allow moisture/condensation to evaporate from the boat.

Your cover should not leak as long as it is properly secured and supported - this should allow water to "run off" and prevent any pooling on the cover. From your descriptions, it sounds as though there is a cover defect and the finish was not properly treated.

We previously corresponded with you and on June 7th, we offered to ship you a replacement cover as well as allow you to use the old one until the replacement arrived. We wanted to let you know that our offer still stands for a replacement cover. Please [contact me via PM] and we'll take care of a replacement for you.
