Hello again,
Directly below the slotted screw labelled "Fill with hypoid oil", there is a small cover plate held in place by two small slotted screws. This plate has 4 small vents in it. What is this vent covering - is it an exhaust or water port? Does it require service by way of removing it to clean or something? I haven't touched it as of yet.

Also, on one of my earlier posts I mentioned some difficulty with the engine running a bit rough after prolonged trolling speed. Today, I removed the prop cap, cotter pin, propeller drive pin and prop and found a whole whack of fishing line wound up in there.

Being the newer owner of this motor I know I didn't get caught up in any line as it appeared that this line had been in there for a long long time. I cleaned everything up and put it all back together again and put a bit of grease on the shaft as well.

Could this old fishing line have had an impact on my ability to troll? I find that now, with the shifter in neutral and the fishing line removed the prop turns more freely. I did this on my driveway and have yet to test in the water on the river. I did find the prop a bit snug to turn by hand before, however.
Hope to hear from members with respect to these topics.
Thanks a lot.
Sean.
