Covering an outboard for winter storage

I have seen great ideas using PVC pipe to build a frame work for storing/ covering the main hull. So I thought I would ask.

I have searched (limited, mind you) for simple ideas on storing/covering outboard motors say during winter. Please don?t refer me to a manufactured cover, kind of defeats the purpose of owning an older boat? don?t ya think ?

Currently I have a heavy duty rain jacket bungee corded around the top half of my motor, while this works I can?t help but feel someone must have given this more thought and came up with a better idea. Maybe a Rubbermaid tub

i just use a long enough tarp to cover mine. i have used contractor garbage bags also.
