Coverting rollers to bunks.

I have an old late 50's Lonestar 14' runabout and it sits nicely on its trailer.

I've been told bunks are better for the boat. Apparently they disperse the weight better and it's less stress on the hull? I wasn't sure if this was true but it did make some sense since the bunks allow more surface contact.

Is there a major difference and is it worth switching? And is it hard to get "just right" for your boat? I figure since I am rewiring the trailer and replacing all the lights with LEDs this winter I could maybe take some time to try this out as well.

and is it worth switching?

For a little bitty 14' boat,......
I can't imagine that the rollers don't support it enough.......
Provided the rollers are properly adjusted, of course.......

I'd find another project to invest My time in.......

Re: Coverting rollers to bunks.

So I am getting the idea that the bunks will distribute the boat weight more evenly, allow easier adjustment for tongue weight, make it easier to put different boats on and be gentler on the bottom of the boat? It almost seems like I would benefit from adding the bunks.

In fact, I love my lonestar. When I go up north it's original. I don;t see any others like it. I want it to last. I'm putting new lights and wires on the trailer so I thought maybe adding the bunks would be best as well. I do like the links to the other threads. they helped.
