I have an 89 force 50 .i think the oil and gas took a toll on the open cell foam that was in there it disintergrated to dust. Can i use neoprene, or would something else be better.

pcm,

There are insulation kits available-aftermarket.

Check out West Marine. www.westmarine.com

I always recommend iboats mega mall, but they don't carry it-I checked.

Hmmm.

Under cowl insulation is pretty basic. Usually it is just 1/2" foam, glued on.

You can use anything similar. The aftermarket kits I used to see were 1/2" foam with a foil outer cover.

There is a form of insulation which looks like bubble wrap, but made of mylar. That may work well and is waterproof.
