Need to ask because I never ran across this before. A friend of mine has the same motor.( 1989 Johnny V4 VRO 90hp) He was asking me should the carbs be open all the way when the trottle is wide open. We got to comparing motors and mine only open about 3/4 at full trottle. his alittle less than 3/4. I'm pretty sure this is the correct setting due to the link and sync. Just want a second opinion. Thanks in advance

>>Crabs Not wide open ?<<

Do you mean Blue crabs, Dungeness crabs, or the pubic kind ?

The throttle plates should be fully open at WOT. Most likely your linkage is not correct per the factory service manual for "sync and link" or the throttle and spark advance rollers are broken or worn.

Throttle plates wide open means they are perfectly horizontal in the carb bore.
