I have a small crack in the aluminum housing on my 9.5 evinrude outboard. I am thinking of using a cold weld compound like JB weld to fix it. Does anyone know if this will be sufficient?

'mornin' "b",

Which housing are you speaking of? I presume you mean the "clam shell" that mounts around the power-head & leg? if "yes" then the question becomes "where is the crack"? if it is in a stressed area, i would recomend getting it welded. if it is not in a load bearing area, then maybe JB Weld is ok but even at that, you ought to consider drilling out the end of the crack to prevent it from progressing.

Good Luck
